2026 Kansai University Short-term Research Exchange Program

The Research Exchange / Laboratory Internship Program between Kansai University (KU) and NCKU provides students with the opportunity to conduct research under the supervision of KU faculty members.

Participants from NCKU will be assigned to a laboratory based on their research interests and the availability of host laboratories at KU.

Objectives

- Deepen knowledge in the student’s field of study.
- Gain hands-on research experience in Japan.
- Promote international academic exchange between NCKU and KU.

Program Features

• Mathematics
• Pure and Applied Physics
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering

Environmental and Urban Engineering Major - up to 2 students

• Architecture
• Civil, Environmental and Applied Systems Engineering
• Chemical, Energy and Environmental Engineering

Chemistry, Materials and Bioengineering Major - up to 2 students

• Chemistry and Materials Engineering
• Life Science and Biotechnology

Program Duration

Between June 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026 (Duration: approximately 1–3 months, TBD)

Eligibility Requirements

- Undergraduate students (third year or above) or graduate students enrolled at NCKU

-Sufficient academic background to conduct research

-Ability to conduct research and communicate in English

-Must complete the program and return to NCKU before graduation

Responsibility

Participants shall submit an official research report to the home institution (NCKU) upon completion of the exchange or research period.

Up to 4 students (tentative)

Financial Support

Kansai University Short-Term Acceptance Scholarship:
JPY 50,000 per month (subject to screening and approval).

Application fee: Free
Tuition fee: Free
Accommodation, travel, visa, insurance, and living expenses: To be borne by participants.

Accommodation

KU international dormitories may be available depending on vacancies. Priority is given to degree-seeking students.

Application Procedure

Students must be nominated by NCKU.
Required documents include:
- CV
- Research Plan or list of research keywords
- Official Academic Transcript
- Copy of Passport
- Proof of English Proficiency (if available)

Application Schedule

- Exchange period: Between June 1 – September 30, 2026 (1 to 3 months) / Application deadline: March 31, 2026 

- Exchange period: Between October 1 – December 31, 2026 (1 to 3 months) / Application deadline: May 31, 2026

Handling of Personal Information

Personal data collected by Kansai University will be used solely for program administration purposes and will not be disclosed to third parties, except to NCKU.
